Gary Oldman has admitted he was excited to add an evil peacock in Kung Fu Panda 2 to the vast repertoire of baddies he's played.

"He fits very nicely in the gallery of Oldman villains!" the actor said of his role.

Speaking in Hollywood, The Dark Knight star insisted he couldn't turn down the chance to be in the sequel to the 2008 hit.

"I play Lord Shen, he can be a rather nasty peacock," Gary said.

"I thought it was brilliantly made, the first one," he confessed. "It came with a pedigree, a phenomenon in a way, that if someone is offered it then it's a hard one to turn down."

Gary was blown-away by the look of his character.

"It's quite a feat of animation, he's quite something," he admitted.

"It's animated so much his movement is almost balletic, it's very graceful," Gary said.

Kung Fu Panda 2 comes out in UK cinemas on June 10.
