Nolan deemed the Modern Master
Christopher Nolan has been hailed a Modern Master.
The Oscar-nominated filmmaker, who has received acclaim for his work on Inception, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, is receiving the coveted title at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.
"Every one of Nolan's films has set a new standard for the film community, with Inception being the latest example - Nolan was the natural choice for this year's... Modern Master Award," said the festival's executive director Roger Durling.
Past recipients of the award, first given in 1995, include Michael Douglas, Sean Penn, Jodie Foster, Peter Jackson, George Clooney, Clint Eastwood and last year's winner, James Cameron.
Christopher, who is said to be working on the Superman reboot Man Of Steel, will be presented with his gong on January 30 at the Arlington Theatre.
