Nathan Lane gets a teaching role
Nathan Lane is to return to the big screen, with a role in The English Teacher.
The star of stage and screen is set to feature in the indie comedy opposite Julianne Moore and Greg Kinnear, where he has been cast as a drama teacher, reported Collider.com.
Julianne plays a high school teacher, whose life takes a turn when a former student returns as a depressed playwright, and Nathan's character gets dragged into the drama that ensues.
"Nathan is a dream addition to our already dream cast. This is a classic Nathan role," said the film's producer Robert Salerno.
The film, which begins shooting in New York in October, will be the directorial debut of Craig Zisk.
Nathan, best known for playing greedy Max Bialystock in The Producers Broadway play and subsequent film as well as his award-winning role in Mike Nichols' The Birdcage, was last seen in Swing Vote in 2008.
His next big-screen outing sees him starring in Tarsem Singh's as-yet-untitled Snow White film alongside Julia Roberts, Lily Collins and Armie Hammer.
