Disney is changing the name of its latest wholesome movie in Italy - for fear it gets mixed up with a well-known porn star.

Disney's 'Moana' follows the story of a Polynesian princess and is due for release in Europe next month, but the name has caused some controversy.

In Italy, Moana Pozzi was a popular porn star who, despite her death in 1994, is still a household name in the Mediterranean country.

Disney have altered the name of the movie in Italy to 'Oceania' but have not yet commented on the moniker change.

A marketing expert, who wished to remain anonymous, told Fox News, there were two simple reasons for Disney's decision.

"There are two very simple reasons for the title change," they said.

"One is that if you type ‘Moana’ and do a Google search in Italy you risk coming up with porn videos.

"And it’s very expensive and a waste of money to try and change that.

"[And] in any Italian focus group ‘Moana’ is Moana Pozzi the porn star."

Controversy has followed the new film in the past few months, as Pacific Islanders have expressed their discontent with the culture portrayed on the screen.

Groups have come forward to claim the film inaccurately depicts Polynesian culture and exploits it for profit.

There have also been suggestions Disney could give back to the Pacific Island communities financially when the film is released.
