As the team behind Brooklyn gear up for the Oscars on Sunday, Independent.ie has an exclusive deleted scene from the movie.
The scene shows Saoirse Ronan and Jenn Murray as Eilis and Dolores in an Irish dance hall, awaiting the arrival of fellas - any fellas.
"There's nobody here. How are we supposed to get fellas if there's nobody here?" says Dolores.
"I expect most people will come after 9," replies Eilis.
"People or fellas?"
"Some of the people will be fellas," says a clearly bored Eilis.
I'd love to meet a fella," says Dolores. "Have you had an American fella? Is he different? Me aunt went with an American fella once in London after the war. She said he was different. I've always wondered what she meant. I wish she'd told me!"
"I don't suppose it was anything terribly complicated," says Eilis.
Brooklyn has been nominated for three Oscars for Best Film, Best Actress (Saoirse Ronan) and Best Screenplay (Nick Hornby) and releases on DVD and Blu-Ray today, February 26.
To celebrate Independent.ie has a copy of the DVD and a signed poster - with Saoirse Ronan and Domhnall Gleeson's signatures to give away. Just click on the link below to enter:
