The first full-length trailer for Barry has landed; Netflix's Barack Obama biopic.
With just two months to go before Obama is succeeded by Donald Trump in the White House, nostalgia is already building around the current US president.
The trailer for Barry, a film about Obama’s days as a student at Columbia University in the early 1980s, should further stoke the sentimentality.
In the Netflix biopic, a young Barack Obama, known to his friends as “Barry,” arrives in New York City in September1981 to begin his junior year at Columbia University.
Australian newcomer Devon Terrell stars as the 20-year-old undergraduate, struggling with his identity as a mixed-race kid from Honolulu in a largely white scene.
He's grappling with a series of increasingly-strained relationships with his Kansas-born mother, his estranged Kenyan father and his classmates in the racially-charged enviornment.
“You a whole different type of brother,” a friend tells him at one point. “You do realise that, don’t you?”
“I fit in nowhere,” Terrell as Obama.
The film premieres on Netflix in Ireland on December 16.
