Eddie Redmayne has reportedly signed on the dotted line to play the mail lead of Newt Scamander in the Warner Bros film which will be directed by David Yates who helmed the last four, and arguably the best, Harry Potter films.

JK Rowling herself has written the script based on her book.

The Wrap reports that The Lovely Bones star Saoirse is up against three other actresses for the role of Tina - Dakota Fanning, Lili Simmons, and Alison Sudol.

Kate Upton, last seen being rather underwhelming opposite Cameron Diaz and Leslie Mann in The Other Woman, is in the running to play Tina's older sister Queenie.  She's facing competition from Katherine Waterston of Inherent Vice fame, and Elizabeth Debicki.

Collider reports that the actresses, if available, will screen test with Eddie Redmayne this week.  The film is slated for a November 2016 release.
