Missing Big Little Lies? Blake Lively is here to fuel your next must-see movie
If you're lamenting the end of the impossibly juicy Big Little Lies, fear not - an exciting film is on the horizon.
After the incredible success and a sure-thing Emmy for Nicole Kidman in Big Little Lies, which was based on a book Liane Moriarty, the author is adapting another work to television starring Gossip Girl Blake Lively.
The Husband's Secret is based on the book of the same name and Lively will play Cecelia Fitzpatrick, a woman who discovers her husband has been keeping a secret when she finds a letter addressed to her in the event of his death.
The best-selling book is considered one of the best fiction offerings of 2013 and asks the question, "How well do you know your spouse?"
"Liane Moriarty has established herself as one of the defining voices of the modern woman and Blake Lively’s unique combination of vulnerability, strength, and extraordinary talent makes her the perfect actress to realize Moriarty’s creation," said CBS Films President Terry Press.
Meanwhile, it's rumoured BLL will be getting a second season with actress Laura Dern saying, "There’s talk". Reese Witherspoon also posted a behind-the-scenes picture of her with co-stars Dern and Nicole Kidman with the caption, "working on some new lies".
Kidman, whose onscreen character was in an abusive relationship, which often made for graphic and uncomfortable viewing, said women have been getting in touch with her and sharing their stories.
"People would want to reach out and touch me. I got so many emails and people talking to me about it, which I like because it’s a really complicated relationship. I obviously understand it, so I’m able to talk about it in complex detail. It’s so based in shame, and the desire to protect her husband and family," she told Variety earlier this month.
As a spokeswoman for the UN's Say NO-UniTE to End Violence against Women campaign, she said she has "the language that is needed for handling some of the women that approach me about it."
