She plays the titular character derived from the classic tale of Sleeping Beauty with Elle Fanning, Sharlto Copely, Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple and Miranda Richardson also starring
Maleficent has grossed $205 million domestically and $400 million worldwide and it opens in Japan this weekend which will further increase takings.
Maleficent joins Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and X-Men: Days of Future Past in the list of movies grossing more than €600m this year.
Maleficent also raced past Disney's live-action fairytale Oz: The Great And Powerful, which has grossed $493 million US dollars worldwide.
