Kelly Rohrbach cast as Pamela Anderson’s character CJ Parker in Baywatch movie
Kelly Rohrbach has been cast as CJ Parker, buxom lifeguard and meditation fan formerly portrayed by Pamela Anderson, in the forthcoming Baywatch reboot.
The news was broken by Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson on his Instagram account, through a series of videos including such hi-jinks as Rohrbach being pushed in the sand, and running in fake slow-motion while grinning at the camera.
So far, the actress mostly has TV credits to her name, from US shows such as Rizzoli & Isles and Two and a Half Men, as well as fulfilling the role of "Young Hottie" in short-lived medical thriller Rush.
She previously trained at the London Academy of Music Drama and Art, but is perhaps best known for dating The Revenant star Leonardo DiCaprio until recently. Rohrbach has also been cast in an unnamed forthcoming Woody Allen project.
She joins High School Musical star Zac Efron and Alexandra Daddario on the film, which is directed by Horrible Bosses director Seth Gordon. It will be released in 2017, and follows the story of two lifeguards vying for the same job.
Both Kelly Brook and Irish model Nadia Forde had reportedly read for the role.
The Rock, who is taking on David Hasselhoff's former role as Mitch Buchannon, commented on Instagram: "A pleasure welcoming [Kelly] to our Baywatch Family for the iconic role of CJ Parker.
"Yes, she's a walking smoke stack but more importantly... she's smart, tough and funny. Just the way we like 'em. Get ready world, we can't wait to bring you our generation's Baywatch!"
To which Rohrbach replied on her Instagram: "The Rock is the coolest guy around. Such an amazing, humble, hilarious and charismatic person! This film is going to be #craywatch."
Glad to see everybody's getting along. We can't wait for Craywatch.
