Here's where to catch FREE screenings of Irish films including Room and The Young Offenders

Film fans are in for a treat next week as one cinema will host a full day of free screenings of brilliant Irish films.

Screenings of flicks including Lenny Abrahamson's Oscar-winning Room and Jim Sheridan's latest offering The Secret Scripture will take place all day at the Light House Cinema in Smithfield, Dublin on April 17.

Also on the bill is Tomm Moore's beautiful animation Song of the Sea as well as Peter Foote's recent box office hit The Young Offenders and The Lobster starring Colin Farrell and Rachel Weisz.

The utterly charming documentary Older than Ireland will also screen on the day which is running as part of Cruinniú na Cásca, a nationwide Creative Ireland initiative presented by RTÉ.

Other events will run across Dublin and the country including live music and dance, coding, art and music workshops, talks and tastings, readings and screenings, special events and more.

Cruinniú na Cásca at Light House Cinema runs all day on April 17 and screenings are:

Song of the Sea: 11.05am, 12.55pm (Irish language version), 3pm

The Secret Scripture: 2.20pm

Older than Ireland: 11am, 1.15pm

The Young Offenders: 12.55pm

The Lobster: 3pm
