Game of Thrones author George RR Martin has revealed that a big screen adaptation of the hit TV series will be made by HBO.

According to The Daily Star, Martin made the revelation at the Emmys HBO afterparty, but said he would not be involved in the project.

"I have too much to do. That is something HBO and the DB and David are dealing with." he is quoted as saying.

"I have two more books to finish and I still have so much to do."

Martin has been under pressure to complete the next two instalments in his A Song of Ice and Fire series.

The sixth season of the TV show is currently filming in Belfast and other locations including Iceland.

Several characters who were supposedly killed in season five have been spotted filming prompting speculation about possible plots.

The TV series has departed somewhat from the books and will do so to a greater extent for series six since Martin has not completed the respective novel.

A source told the Daily Star that the movie may travel back in time and feature characters who have been killed off in the books and TV series.

Countless heads have rolled so that would make for a hell of a cast.
