From Love/Hate to New York - Aoibhinn McGinnity ready for her big American break
She visited New York last year to see her best pal Charlene McKenna and it seems that the Big Apple has got under Aoibhinn McGinnity's skin.
The former Love/Hate star is planning a move to the city later this year and has linked up with both an agent and a manager in the hopes of breaking the US market.
"I've just been to the States where I signed with a manager and an agent so I think I'm going to go back there next month and try and get a job secured," she told the Diary.
"I signed with Gersh Agency and Bill Butler Management.
"I'm just going to go over again and see what we can do and see what's the best next step for me.
"You know, they're lovely, lovely people so I'm delighted with the way it's gone so far," she continued.
"It's nice [to have that backing in the US] and they're all really normal. Not too American, like I was afraid of - they're normal people who are just good at their jobs.
"I'm over and back at the minute and I'll see how that goes for now," she added.
The Gersh Agency is based in both LA and New York and Bill Butler has represented the likes of Calista Flockhart, Victor Garber and Cindi Lauper.
The 28-year-old revealed that she is looking at all her options, from TV to film and theatre.
The Monaghan native recently left the iconic character of Trish behind her when she returned to her musical roots to star in Elf: The Musical at Christmas.
"I want to do as many different parts as I can, but I'm not a huge planner," Aoibhinn revealed.
"I don't think you can plan, but it dawned on me that I really missed musical theatre and then Elf came along - I was very lucky." Producers are hoping to bring the feel-good musical to the West End, but it has not been confirmed if Aoibhinn will reprise her role.
The brunette beauty has kept quiet about her love life after she was spotted in Dublin with BBC star Chris Moyles in January.
However, rumours are circulating that Aoibhinn is, in fact, seeing Red Rock star Adam Weafer. The actor plays David Hennessey in the popular TV3 soap and insiders say he is mad about her after they were spotted together in Everleigh Garden.
