Finding Dory is making waves at the US box office, raking in an estimated €120m in its opening weekend.
The figure breaks the all-time world record debut for an animated film, and makes it the second-best June opening after last year’s Jurassic World.
Shrek The Third was the previous record holder, taking in €107.2m in its 2007 opening weekend.
The figure greatly exceeds the €88.2m Disney executives estimated that the film would make over its first three days.
Finding Dory made €48.5m on Friday, breaking the single-day record for any animated film.
The highly-anticipated sequel comes 13 years after the release of Finding Nemo, with voices from Ellen DeGeneres, Ed O’Neill and Diane Keaton.
Finding Dory swims into Irish cinemas on July 29.
