An Irish writer and director left quadriplegic in an accident 20 years ago is preparing to make his feature film debut.
Paddy Slattery, who suffered a spinal cord injury in a car crash, is hoping to produce The Broken Law Of Attraction with the help of donations from the public.
Launching a Crowdfunding campaign for his project, he said: "We're shooting this film, by hook or by crook.
"I don't want any special treatment because I'm a wheelchair user. I just want a fair crack of the whip as I believe I've earned it."
The Offaly man has won several awards for his short films. He fell in love with filmmaking after spending years in hospital recover- ing from his devastating injuries.
The movie will be produced by Zanzibar Films, which is behind Sanctuary, the winner of Best First Irish Feature at this year's Galway Film Fleadh.
Shooting on the film, which is a crime drama, is expected to begin at a number of Dublin locations in the coming months.
Around €1,670 has been raised so far. Anyone interested can donate here.
