The magazine published an article on Wednesday which included several anecdotes about the 28-year-old actor, who shot to the big time in last year's fantastic Whiplash opposite JK Simmons.

They included the fact he calls Joaquin Phoenix 'Joaq' has tweeted a rather angry message to Whiplash director Damien Chazelle after he cut him from his new flim La La Land.

However, one aspect of the article has upset Miles.

“Our latest cover star is on a quest for greatness. Sometimes that can involve a bit of dickishness too,” Esquire tweeted with a link to their article.

Teller responded with, "@esquire couldn't be more wrong.  I don't think there's anything cool or entertaining about being a dick or an asshole. Very misrepresenting".

And now Jamie Bell and Kate Mara who play fellow superheroes in the latest Marvel adventure took to Twitter to voice their support for Teller.

Bell tweeted, "@Miles_Teller is a great actor & a great guy. @esquire" followed by Mara with, "My movie husband @Miles_Teller is crazy talented and a truly fantastic person. @esquire".

MTV news correspondent Josh Horowitz also weighed in by saying he knows Teller and "Sometimes he says insane things that I love to give him crap for. He's also a good guy & great actor.  Ignore the hate".
