Irish actor Domhnall Gleeson is set to star opposite Saturday Night Live's Will Forte in a new Netflix movie.
The plot centres around the story of US satirical magazine National Lampoon.
According to Deadline.com, the Dublin actor will play magazine boss Henry Beard with Will starring as co-founder Doug Kenny.
The film will be titled A Futile And Stupid Gesture, and it will be based on Josh Karp’s book of the same name.
The source material primarily revolves around Kenney’s life and tragic death at 33 (he was found at the bottom of a cliff in a Hawaii after struggling with addiction for a few years).
The magazine ceased publication in 1998 but it was hugely successful in the 70s and 80s and launched the careers of John Hughes and John Belushi in movies including Animal House and Caddyshack.
The movie is being directed by Wet Hot American Summer's David Wain with a script by Michael Colton and John Aboud, two former editors of the Harvard Lampoon.
Domhnall is currently busy working on Star Wars: Episode VIII which is due to film scenes in Ireland in May.
