Domhnall Gleeson takes closet fan dad Brendan Gleeson to Star Wars: The Force Awakens world premiere
Domhnall Gleeson brought his dad, Irish acting legend Brendan, to the Star Wars: The Force Awakens world premiere.
The legendary Irish actor was snapped on the red carpet with Domhnall (32), who plays villain General Hux in the highly anticipated latest instalment in the much-loved sci-fi series.
With his profile already on the up thanks to a series of roles in critically acclaimed films this year, including The Revenant, Ex Machina and Brooklyn, it's set to go stellar after Star Wars opens on December 17 in Ireland and the UK and the following day in the US.
And proud dad Brendan was on hand to support his son as he took to one of the most high profile red carpets in the world alongside original series stars Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill as well as fellow newcomers Daisy Ridley and John Boyega.
Despite Brendan attempting to extract information on the movie's plot from his son throughout filming, Domhnall remained tight-lipped.
Speaking to RTE Ten recently he said Domhnall's non-disclosure agreement with director JJ Abrams was "like a pre-nup".
Gleeson also said he hoped that the attention lavished on Domhnall for the role doesn't get "too idiotic".
"I have experience of [fan attention] with Harry Potter and I got a scare when it took off and became so massive," Gleeson said.
However, he added, "I don't think Domhnall will be defined by his Star Wars role, he's well known already and his attitude is pretty great.
"I just hope the attention doesn't become too idiotic, but I can't see why it should."
