The 32-year-old star was in a cab on his way to the airport in London as he chatted to Ryan Tubridy on RTE Radio 1 when the minor incident happened.

The Dublin actor was talking about his upcoming role in The Revenant when he trailed off and said, "Oh, we nearly just crashed!"

Ryan asked him where he was and Domhnall explained he was in London, "speeding towards, not speeding, not speeding, going at a reasonable rate - I don't want to get this guy in trouble! Excellent driver!"

He then continued chatting about The Revenant and Leonardo Di Caprio's "amazing" scene in which he is attacked by a bear.

"Yeah, yeah, so fur trappers, Leonardo Di Caprio plays the lead, he is one of the leaders of the group and he gets attacked, in one of the most amazing scenes I've ever seen, by a bear.  It's so visceral and real, it's the maddest thing you've ever seen."

Domnhall is en route to the US for several weeks of promotion relating to Star Wars: The Force Awakens and The Revenant before returning home for a family Christmas in Dublin.
