The Knick actress, who features in next month's edition of InStyle magazine, has told how the most famous frontman on the planet uncharacteristically takes an off-screen anonymous role in audition scenes she sends to movie directors.

She told the magazine her father is the only one of her family who is able to keep a straight face during the process.

"He uses a different voice and he is the only one in my family who can do it and not laugh at me," Eve said.

But she said she used another friend for her Knick audition film as it involved enacting the infamous scene in the opening episode where she had to inject the male character's private parts.

"There was just no way I was going to have my Dad do that with me," she said.

The Irish starlet makes a smouldering cameo in the September issue of US InStyle magazine wearing Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino and Gucci.

Surprisingly, she reveals she also had to learn to ride a bike for the role as she had never acquired the skill during her idyllic Dublin childhood in Killiney Hill.

"I never leaned how to ride one. My parents always said it was because we lived on a hill," she said.

The magazine revealed how the young Irish actress enlisted the help of "Steve from props" to master the art of cycling for her role as a wide-eyed nurse from West Virginia named Lucy in The Knick.

The 10-part drama series is centred on a maverick doctor player by Clive Owen working in the Knickerbocker Hospital in downtown New York at the start of the 20th century.

The show helmed by Oscar winning director Stephen Soderberg debuted to widespread acclaim across the Atlantic and will debut on Sky Atlantic.

She told InStyle magazine she had to get over her aversion to blood for the role: "I got blood taken just before we started filming and I thought I was going to pass out. "I was thinking 'Uh-oh I'm screwed'."

The budding star first came to public attention with her stellar performance alongside Sean Penn in the film This Must Be the Place.

She was also widely praised for her performance as the sullen daughter of the late Sopranos star James Gandolfini in his last movie Enough Said.
