Conor McGregor lands role in new Vin Diesel xXx movie

Conor McGregor has bagged a role in Vin Diesel's new xXx movie.

The news comes in the wake of McGregor's amazing knock out triumph over reigning UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo this week.

The fight was over in 13 seconds, but it was long enough to bring McGregor to Diesel's attention.

The Fast and Furious star, who has helped UFC stars Ronda Rousey and Gina Carino to infiltrate Hollywood, announced McGregor's involvement in xXx 3 on Instagram.

"Timing and precision... The casting of the new XXX gets more exciting everyday. #liveforthisshit" he captioned a photo of himself with McGregor.

The first xXx movie released in 2002 and starred Vin Diesel as an extreme sports athlete who is recruited by the government on a special mission. It currently has a 48 per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

xXx: State of the Union released in 2005 and starred Willem Dafoe, Samuel L Jackson, Ice Cube, Scott Speedman, and Xzibit.  it only garnered a 16% rotten rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

It remains to be seen whether McGregor will have a large role or simply a cameo in xXx 3, which has been given the working title, The Return of Xander'.  Samuel L Jackson has been confirmed to return for the film which is currently in pre-production under director DJ  Caruso.

Elsewhere TMZ reports that Mark Wahlberg has said it's 'very possible' he could work with McGregor on a movie.
