Chloe Moretz is about to become a part of a whole new generation's world.
The rising star (18) has landed the role of Ariel in the upcoming live action adaptation, based on Hans Christian Anderson's original tale (unfortunately not the 1989 Disney classic).
The Kick-Ass actress confirmed the news on Twitter, saying: "Been waiting a long time to tell you guys !! #TheLittleMermaid going to be a beautiful experience! Can't wait to show everyone my Mermaid!"
There mightn't be a dinglehopper of singing crab in the new film, but it follows a similar premise based as the fairytale, which sees a mermaid who gives up her life in the sea for her love.
Richard Curtis, who penned Love Actually and About Time, is confirmed as screenwriter for the project, while original director Sofia Coppola parted ways with the studio over "creative differences", according to Variety.
