Alicia Vikander fills Angelina Jolie’s khaki shorts as new Lara Croft in Tomb Raider
Oscar-winning actress Alicia Vikander will fill the khaki shorts previously inhabited by Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft in Tomb Raider.
The Swedish actress has been cast as a young Croft in a new instalment in the series which will focus on the character's origin story.
The LA Times reports that Norweigan director Roar Uthaung will helm the action flick.
Angelina Jolie originally played the character in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider in 2001 and the sequel Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Cradle of Life. The films were based on the hugely popular 1996 video game.
MGM have yet to officially announce Vikander as Lara, although Variety has stated that MGM would develop the new film with Warner Bros and GK films.
Vikander has had an incredible year, starring in critically acclaimed films including sci-fi flick Ex Machina, alongside Domhnall Gleeson, and The Danish Girl, for which she won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar.
She will next appear in the new Bourne movie, Jason Bourne, alongside Matt Damon.
