Screenings of 'Good Will Hunting' which earned the late Robin Williams a Best Supporting Actor nomination, will be screened at 22 cinemas across Ireland at 6.30pm on Tuesday August 26.

Seats cost €10, or £7 in Northern Ireland, and all funds raised will go to suicie and self harm prevention charity Pieta House, and Pips Charity in Northern Ireland.

Dan Healy, Head of RTÉ 2fm said, “The tragic death of last week of Robin Williams has focused many people’s minds on the troubles that affect so many, but often go unnoticed until it is too late.

"With this breaking news there was a national organic outpouring from fans of Robin Williams, wanting to both pay homage and celebrate the legacy of this acting genius.

"With this in mind 2fm and Omniplex Cinemas have joined forces to help raise awareness, and much needed funds, for Pieta House and Pips Charity, two Irish charities that help save many lives north and south of the border each year but importantly to give Robin Williams fans across the country the chance to get together and celebrate one of the finest films from this legendary actor.”

Joan Freeman, Founder and CEO of Pieta House added: “Every suicide is a tragedy, and the sudden loss of Robin Williams has affected millions of people worldwide, reminding us that suicide doesn’t discriminate.

"This screening is an opportunity to celebrate the work of an exceptional performer in the knowledge that the cost of your ticket is helping somebody else in crisis.

"Thank you to Paddy McKenna and Eoghan McDermott on 2fm for laying down the challenge and to Omniplex for following through on this wonderful idea.”

The move follows screenings of 'Aladdin' and 'Good Will Hunting' last week by Light House Cinema, Dublin, which were also held in aid of Pieta House.
