More people identify race of black actors than white, study shows
When it comes to noticing race in Hollywood, it is a case of more black than white, a study has suggested.
The majority of people identified the common theme of race when faced with three black actors, researchers said, but far fewer noted that three presented to them were white.
Participants all appeared to have the same difficulty spotting the fact the white actors were white, no matter what race they were from themselves, the University of Surrey study showed.
Professor Peter Hegarty said: "Everyone knows Hollywood actors are mostly white and that being white is the norm among film stars.
"This study clearly shows one consequence of this; the failure to notice that white actors are white."
