Mickey in awe of Robert Downey Jr

Mickey Rourke has revealed how he is in awe of Iron Man 2 co-star Robert Downey Jr for getting himself on the straight and narrow.
Robert, who has successfully revived his acting career with the Iron Man franchise, was arrested on drug-related charges between 1996 and 2001, and had alcohol-related problems, while Mickey's career stalled in the 90s due to drink troubles.
"It's funny, I'd be on my treadmill and I would see him sitting with his vitamins and I thought, 'Who would have ever thought the two of us would have not only shown up on time but doing what we were doing?' - I'm real happy for his success, he fell off really far and he came back," he said.
Mickey continued: "Just the fact he fell off the ship and was fortunate enough to have the intelligence - he's really bright, and the biggest thing is how smart he is.
"The reason why Iron Man is so successful is because [director Jon] Favreau took a chance with somebody that has his ability, his sense of humour and his talent, and instead of using some young flavour of the month, who just looked good. Robert's made the most out of it."
And he quipped how the pair didn't bond over their personal troubles.
"He had a drug problem, mine was different. We had nothing to talk about," said Mickey.
