James McAvoy, Hugh Laurie and Ashley Jensen have joined the cast of 3D CG-animated comedy Arthur Christmas.
Jim Broadbent, Bill Nighy and Imelda Staunton will also be voicing characters in the film, to be made by Wallace And Gromit creators Aardman Animations for Sony Pictures.
The film, set on Christmas night, is due for release in November next year and reveals the "never-before seen answer to every child's question: 'So how does Santa deliver all those presents in one night?'".
It focuses on Father Christmas's ultra-high-tech operation hidden beneath the North Pole.
Wanted star James leads the cast as Arthur, Santa's clumsy but good-natured youngest son who is the only family member who is still captured by the magic of Christmas.
Hugh plays his older brother Steve, who is heir to the throne and runs Christmas night with military-style precision.
Harry Potter star Jim plays Father Christmas, who pictures himself as the guy in charge at the North Pole, but is now more of a figurehead as the operation has outgrown him.
Love Actually star Bill is Santa's 136-year-old father, Grandsanta, a cranky old codger who hates the modern world; Ugly Betty star Ashley is Bryony, a lowly elf from the Giftwrap Battalion; while Imelda will play Mrs Santa, dedicated wife and mother.
Arthur Christmas will be directed by Sarah Smith and Barry Cook.
