Rachel McAdams has been kept in the dark by Terrence Malick about his new film.
The Sherlock Holmes actress doesn't know how big her role will be in the forthcoming untitled movie, which also stars Ben Affleck, Javier Bardem and Rachel Weisz.
"I don't know, I'll find out when I see the film. But, it's a romance, as far as I can tell. It's a bit of a triangle between Ben, Olga Kurylenko and myself," she told Collider.
Rachel - who has been in Cannes promoting Woody Allen's Midnight In Paris - admitted she never got the chance to meet Oscar winner Javier.
"Our characters never meet up. He plays a priest. And he was gone by the time I got there so we didn't even meet," she said.
The 32-year-old has only high praise for Terrence, who is known to be elusive.
"He's a very open, warm person. We spent a fair amount of time together before we got started. There's great preparation involved with him," she recalled.
"He was wonderful and so inspiring. He has a very different way of working and I think it really services a real honesty and beauty in his films. It was a great experience, as an actor," added Rachel.
