Mat Horne discovers paternal urges
Mat Horne has joked that playing a father in Horrid Henry The Movie has made him want to become a dad himself.
The Gavin And Stacey star, whose comedy partner James Corden recently became a father for the first time to son Max, plays Horrid Henry's dad in the big screen adaptation of the hit children's book starring Theo Stevenson as Horrid Henry.
Mat joked about playing a father on screen: "Well I've had a dad for ages so it was really good to learn form him... but my paternal urges came to the fore during the filming so it came very naturally to me eventually. So I'm trying to find someone to impregnate now - they say romance is dead!"
He added: "So yeah that was a really good experience for me.
"And people like Theo are wonderful and really, really great to work with."
Mat attended the National Movie Awards this week where he was joined by new dad James.
Mat revealed fatherhood had not changed his friend much.
He wisecracked: "I think he's working all the time. I assume he just leaves the baby in the car, which is fine. He's on his way over now, so fingers crossed he won't be bringing the baby.
"But I think he's coping all right. He's had nine months to prepare."
