Marsan excited about film debut
Eddie Marsan has revealed he is "very excited" as he prepares to make his directorial debut.
The British actor, who was last seen in London Boulevard and The Disappearance Of Alice Creed, plans to direct his first film, Pell Mell, which he describes as "Shakespeare's Richard III set in 1960s London".
As well as taking the reins for Warp Films, he will also star and has already written the script, reported Screen Daily.
Eddie told the website that he was thrilled about making the move from acting to directing, adding that Mike Leigh - whom he has collaborated with on Vera Drake and Happy Go Lucky - encouraged him to go behind the camera.
Producer Peter Carlton said: "It is early days in terms of being at the start of the financing and casting process, but we think Eddie has a brilliant vision for the film."
Production on Pell Mell is planned for 2012.
