Mark Strong in Green Lantern talks
Green Lantern director Martin Campbell has revealed he wants British actor Mark Strong to play villain Sinestro.
Campbell shot down rumours Watchmen star Jackie Earle-Haley was to play the role in an interview with MTV - and revealed he was in talks with the Sherlock Holmes actor.
The director said of the Earle-Haley rumours: "That's completely wrong, someone told me that this morning and I'd never heard it before in my life - we're in negotiations with Mark Strong to play Sinestro."
He added: "He's not only a wonderful actor but he looks very like Sinestro."
Strong is currently appearing in Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes and will play Sir Godfrey in Ridley Scott's Robin Hood.
The Body Of Lies star will also appear this year as mobster Frank D'Amico in Kick-Ass and in the forthcoming John Carter of Mars playing nemesis Matai Shang.
Ryan Reynolds is to to play pilot superhero Hal Jordan in in comic book movie Green Lantern, while Gossip Girl Blake Lively will appear as his love interest Carol Ferris.
The Warner Bros production is set to begin production in March, and is due to be released on June 17 2011.
