Angelina Jolie's Maleficent magic has continued its box office rule as the film passed the 600 million US dollar mark.

Disney's live action spin-off of the Sleeping Beauty fairytale, which stars the Hollywood beauty as the evil fairy Maleficent, has now made 605 million US dollars (£352.92 million) at the global box office.

Other films that have crossed the 600 million barrier in 2014 include Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and X-Men: Days Of Future Past.

Maleficent is the 20th Disney film to make over 600 million dollars globally.

The film is already the biggest live-action film of Angelina's career, surpassing Mr And Mrs Smith, which took in 478.2 million US dollars (£281.1 million) in 2005.

Maleficent also raced past Disney's live-action fairytale Oz: The Great And Powerful, which has grossed 493.3 million US dollars (£289.9 million) worldwide.
