Back for more sweaty action in a follow-up to 2012’s sexy saga, the 37 year-old travelled here after graduating from college and claims the City of the Tribes gave him the confidence to pursue an acting career and ultimately, flash the flesh in a star-making role alongside fellow hunks, Channing Tatum and Joe Manganiello.

“I used to live in Galway maybe 15, 16 years ago, was just a kid out of college and that city changed me,” Bomer explains at the film’s London premiere.

“I’d been studying regional theatre and decided I want to go away for a while and had family roots in Ireland and thought, that would be the place to do it. So got my work visa and was on my way.

“I was probably a little shy because I hadn’t been out of the States much but [the Irish], they have that self-assurance, that swagger, it’s so infectious and crazy amazing. The Irish are hot.

“Ended up bartending at Busker Brownes and waited tables at Kirby’s on Cross Street and definitely built up more confidence which can’t have hurt my career.

“Loved the people there, one of my favourite places in the world, especially when I could have gone anywhere in the world.

“So I can’t wait to come back. My sister’s husband is from Galway, I need to get back sooner rather than later. I miss that Celtic swagger.”

Sizzling in a series of raunchy routines in Magic Mike XXL, Bomer – who got his break in crime series, White Collar – was still rattled by the grand finale which left him wearing nothing else but a tiny thong.

“You can be all kinds of confident and then they put you in a thong,” he laughs. “I still can’t believe I agreed to do it. On that day, when it came down to it in front of a thousand people, I felt pure and utter terror.

“But the guys really were the best support system. We bolstered each other’s confidence and cheered each other on.”

The actor goes as far to admit stripping off in front of his fellow actors bonded them together.

“These are my brothers. And there’s something about having to face these daunting circumstances that really helps you connect. And I know it wouldn’t go down too well at human resources but there’s something about having to strip down, be completely naked around each other to know that you all have each other’s back. ‘You got my back, yep, I got yours.’”

Married to Hollywood publicist Simon Halls, the dad of three still can’t believe his own fame since starring in the Magic Mike series.

“To get this crazy reception in London, I didn’t even know anyone knew me outside of the States. How anyone saw me past the handsome bomb that is Channing Tatum is anyone’s guess! But I am definitely not complaining. This is awesome.”
