The Chinese star met with Michael before the film was made and said she had told him to make the role of the head of the company which makes the Transformers a woman so that she could get the part.

She said: "Originally this character was a man, but when I met Michael in his studio and he said he had this character, I suggested why not make it female.

"He told me this character is going to be the CEO of the company that makes Transformers, and I suggested change it to be a female. He said, 'Mm. I will think about it.' Two months later I got the offer from him.

"In this film I am a CEO and a scientist - very beautiful, sexy, strong willed, tough. At the end, she saves her boss's life. She's so aggressive."

Bingbing added that she had been banned by Michael from bringing an interpreter to set because he wanted to instruct her directly.

She said: "I said, 'I don't understand some of the words.' He said, 'You understand. You only understand what you want to understand.' He's always like that. But I still asked for my interpreter beside me for safety. I don't want to miss anything.

"It's interesting, I got pressure from him, but it's also good pressure for me to learn more English and for me to practise more and speak more. That's a good way."

Transformers: Age Of Extinction is in cinemas now.
