Damian Lewis is almost ready to sign a deal that will see him star in Queen Of The Desert.
The Homeland star, who has won Golden Globes and Emmys for his TV turn, is set to take on the role of Lt Col Charles Doughty-Wylie, according to Deadline.
His character is an unhappily married English war hero who had an affair with Gertrude Bell, played by Nicole Kidman, the explorer who the film is about.
The couple exchanged love letters between 1913 and 1915 until he was killed while on military duty in Gallipoli.
Queen Of The Desert, which will be directed by Werner Herzog, will also star James Franco and Robert Pattinson and is due to be released in cinemas in 2015.
