Kristen: Stripper role is delicate
Kristen Stewart has claimed the troubled lap dancer she plays in her new film Welcome To The Rileys is a "delicate child" in a "sweet story".
The 19-year-old Twilight star insists the role is not such a shocking breakaway from playing Bella Swann in the teen vampire series.
Kristen said: "Everyone's like 'Ooh you're baring it all' - I actually play the most delicate child in it, she's really very young and it's actually kind of a sweet story."
She went on: "One thing that we wanted to be concerned with was not exploiting Mallory, my character, more than she already was in her real life. So I wasn't concerned about nude scenes, because there aren't any, but I definitely did have to shred, not just clothing, but really every single layer of defence possible, which is never really an easy thing to do.
"Everyone always asks 'Why would you choose Welcome to the Rileys, it's so different from Twilight, you must have felt you had to branch out and do something different.'
"But I don't choose characters just because 'Ooh they're really hardcore and they're edgy and they're cool' - this girl is really, really sort of broken and sweet."
And Kristen loved working with James Gandolfini on the movie.
She revealed: "This has the least negative conotation in the world because I am almost in love with this man - he's so explosive in every way.
"He has such an attachment to the material and such a respect for it and such a sense of responsibility that it makes you step up and he's also a fairly impulsive actor which I am as well."
