It is 10 years since Keira Knightley was nominated for her first Oscar - for her performance as Elizabeth Bennet in Pride And Prejudice.

She will be hoping to go one better this year and walk off with one of the famous statuettes after her nomination for her role opposite Benedict Cumberbatch in The Imitation Game.

A lot has changed in that decade - she married musician boyfriend James Righton in 2013 and is expecting her first child - but she has cemented her place in Hollywood's front rank.

She has had her sights firmly set on fame since she was a toddler.

Aged three, she told her parents she wanted an agent, and she made her TV debut in the drama A Village Affair when she was eight.

Her breakthrough role came in 2002, when she was cast as a football-loving teen in Bend It Like Beckham.

She went on to star in the TV mini-series Dr Zhivago and Love Actually before hitting the Hollywood big time in The Pirates Of The Caribbean films opposite Johnny Depp.

Other high profile roles include Anna Karenina and Atonement and she was signed up as the face of Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle perfume.
