She was joined by Dark Knight Rises actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who stars opposite the flame-haired actress in new movie Don Jon, which he also wrote and directed.
Also by her side was Kick-Ass star Chloe Grace Moretz, who headlines the remake of prom night horror movie Carrie, which features Julianne as her mother.
Dressed in a knee-length yellow dress and white sandals, Julianne said she never believed she could get paid to be a movie star.
"Growing up it never even occurred to me that it was possible to be an actor for a living, I had never met one or seen a real play and I thought acting was what you did after school because you couldn't play sports.
"I did it because my favourite thing to do was read and it was a way for me to imagine I was in the book. I loved being inside the story but being a movie star was even more realistic, I didn't think they were real people, I thought they were something I had dreamt."
Before unveiling her star on Hollywood Boulevard, the actress added: "I never expected this, I am thrilled and shocked to be included in this community."
Receiving a kiss on the cheek from the actress she described as her "mentor", Moretz said: "I have only known her for a year but in this short time she has taught me so many things, how to be a brilliant mom one day, how to have a long lasting career and be a beautiful person inside and out."
