Josh Holloway's impossible mission
Josh Holloway is joining Tom Cruise and the rest of the Mission: Impossible 4 team.
The Lost star is in final negotiations to star in the action spy thriller, his first major role since the hit TV show , produced and co-created by M:I 4 producer JJ Abrams, wrapped earlier this year, The Hollywood Reporter's Risky Business blog reports.
Heartthrob Josh would play a member of the Impossible Mission Force, the secret agent task force headed by Hollywood hunk Tom.
The film is to be directed by hit animator Brad Bird of The Incredibles and the award-winning Ratatouille.
The cast already includes Jeremy Renner, Paula Patton, Vladimir Mashkov and Ving Rhames.
Simon Pegg has just been confirmed to return as geeky scientist Benji Dunn in the film and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo's Michael Nyqvist is tipped to play the main villain.
JJ, who is producing with Tom and Paula Wagner, worked on the story with Andre Nemec and Josh Appelbaum, who have written the screenplay.
The production is scouting locations in Vancouver and Prague and is due to begin shooting in the next few weeks in Dubai, aiming for a December 2011 release date.
Josh spent six series playing hunky anti-hero Sawyer on Lost.
This will be his first major film role but he has appeared in a couple of indie movies - Stay Cool and Whisper. He reportedly had to turn down larger projects that overlapped with the TV show, which was filmed in Hawaii.
