John C Reilly: Acting is crazy

John C Reilly has described acting as a "crazy" job.
The Cyrus star had to generate a mini breakdown in his role as emotionally fragile Jim in Magnolia, and claimed the emotions don't come that easily.
"Magnolia was definitely tough - I remember driving to work on the day when I have a mini breakdown, thinking, 'This is not right. What I'm going into right now is not a natural human instinct'... It's a crazy thing to do for a living," he said.
"Most people would try to avoid it, but actors go right in and think, 'I'm going to cry today, I'm going to be upset'," he added.
But John, who stars with Marisa Tomei and Jonah Hill in Cyrus, isn't shying away from those vulnerable characters.
"I tend to have lots of vulnerable moments, even when I'm playing tough characters, but that's part of what you do as an actor. Closed characters that are very guarded with their feelings and don't reveal much are not very interesting," he added.
