Joaquin Phoenix fans may not need to despair about never seeing him on screen again.

The Walk The Line actor announced two years ago that he was quitting acting to become a musician, and I'm Still Here, a documentary apparently charting his emotional decline - made by Casey Affleck - premiered at Venice Film Festival this week.

But, according to the Hollywood Reporter, Joaquin has been in talks to star in several films.

Joaquin, the brother of late gifted actor River Phoenix, was lined up to play writer Edgar Allan Poe in The Raven, although he was replaced by John Cusack when talks fell through.

He was also in negotiations about Jonah Hill comedy The Sitter, in which he was lined up to play a drug dealer, and was also in talks to play novelist Thomas Wolfe alongside Sean Penn in the drama Genius.

It also appears that Joaquin is lined up to play a foot fetishist and show designer in indie flick The Big Shoe.

It it is not known how fictionalised I'm Still Here is, but Casey has insisted there is "no hoax" surrounding Joaquin's behaviour.
