Jake Gyllenhaal: I'm not Spiderman!
Jake Gyllenhaal has said he is fed up with being mistaken for Spiderman star Tobey Maguire.
The 29-year-old Jarhead star told The Daily Telegraph: "To all those cab drivers out in New York, I am not Spider-Man!"
Jake stars as Tobey's brother in new movie Brothers, about a US soldier (Tobey) presumed dead after his helicopter is shot down in Afghanistan so his wife, played by Natalie Portman, seeks comfort in the arms of his younger brother (Jake).
He said: "People have very often said to me that I look like Tobey, so I thought it was perfect casting.
"They really just made Brothers so it could be said that I look different from Tobey."
Jake doesn't view the film as a war movie.
He said: "Because I made Jarhead and Rendition, people might think that I've now done a few war movies, but that's not how I see this movie. I think that this movie is a journey, the journey that Tobey's character makes to get back home. It is intertwined with a lot of other family complications but mostly it is about what this man does to get back to the people that he loves, and to his life."
He added: "What made it fun working on Brothers with Tobey, who is my contemporary, was the acknowledgement of admiration and the acknowledgement of competition."
