AN Irish producer who has worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry has received a nomination for the 2012 Latin Grammy Awards.
Dublin-born Emer Patten has been given the nod for a film documentary on singer Shakira and will go head-to-head with her competitors on Thursday at the ceremony in Las Vegas.
Ms Patten and her business partner Nick Wickham have been listed in the Best Long Form Video category for 'Shakira: Live From Paris', which they shot over two days during the artist's recent tour.
DCU graduate Ms Patten, who has worked with Irish acts such as U2 and The Corrs, told the Irish Independent of her delight to be commended for her work.
"It's really exciting, I honestly didn't expect it at all. What we do is very specialist and there aren't many awards going that recognise what we do," she said.
"If we win, it'd be great, but we're not expecting anything. To just be up there is fantastic."
Ms Patten and Mr Wickham founded their UK-based production company Splinter Films in 1997.
While she considers herself "50pc London and 50pc Dublin", Ms Patten insisted that she's extremely proud to see the flow of creative talent coming out of Ireland.
"The Irish always have been very creative, I don't think it's an area in which we need encouragement to be honest."
