A new trailer for upcoming movie ‘Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues’ is causing quite a stir as many Irish have noted a familiar face among Ron Burgundy’s news anchor posse.
Former RTÉ newsreader Anne Doyle is enjoying retirement after 33 years of presenting the evening broadcast, but it looks like her love for the camera has yet to be quashed.
The Wexford woman has a cameo in the second instalment of the cult comedy, her eighties self addressing the world at the beginning of the official film trailer.
‘Anchorman’ film-makers edited a special version of the initial trailer for fans in key Ron Burgundy-loving countries, Ireland being one of them.
A quick Google search was all the Hollywood crowd needed to discover that Anne Doyle is probably the country’s most iconic newsreader.
The once-brunette features in the trailer with the trademark line, “Good evening. The headlines...”
The film, released in cinemas on December 20, continues to follow the broadcast legend Ron Burgundy and his sidekicks Brian Fantana (Pual Rudd), Champ Kind (David Koechner) and Brick Tamland (Steve Carell) as they head to the Big Apple as they join a 24-hour Global News Network.
