Irish auditions for next 'Star Wars'

'STAR WARS' film-makers will come to Dublin in search of young actors to appear in the upcoming movies.

Auditions are being held at Filmbase in Temple Bar on November 23 and 24.

The film-makers are on the lookout for a "beautiful, smart, athletic" actress and a "handsome, smart, athletic" man who is in his late teens or early 20s.

The open auditions for a "major Hollywood Movie" were first published on Twitter, announcing a "nationwide search for lead roles for a Disney movie".

According to the casting advertisement, the female character is called Rachel and will be around 17 or 18 years of age in the movie. The male lead is called Thomas and the actor must be over 18 years of age.

The advert does not mention 'Star Wars' by name but industry sources say that the roles are being lined up for the seventh instalment of the sci-fi saga.

It has also been speculated that the names Thomas and Rachel are merely 'fronts' and the actual characters will be named something more exotic.

Disney bought Lucasfilm, the production company behind the 'Star Wars' series, in October 2012.

It is thought that any successful candidates will go to London for further auditions.
