Iannucci: No In The Loop sequel
Armando Iannucci has said he has no plans to make a sequel to In The Loop.
The director has won countless awards and nominations for the political satire, a movie spin-off of his hit BBC show The Thick Of It, and he has now been commissioned to make a US TV version.
But Armando said: "I'm not really thinking about (a sequel), I mean because we have The Thick Of It anyway still running on television. I think it felt right to do this as a film - I don't see it as a, dare I say it, as a franchise, you know, In The Loop 7: Climate Change."
He added: "But I want to do another film, I want to do something completely different next time."
The comedian and writer is excited about going to the Oscars, but haunted with fear that he might travel all the way to Hollywood only to be turned away.
Armando said: "My ticket arrived this morning, very exciting. But it was late and it had, you know, 'please reply by...' and it gave today's date. And I thought, well they're not going to not let me in you know.
"But some hasty phone calls and e-mails and stuff and we're all sorted. I'm not going to be turning up, kind of like out in the rain, kind of, banging on the door asking to be let in.
"I hope not anyway! I say that, it might look quite funny... but, no, really excited about it."
