Hurt joins Johnson in Hercules
John Hurt and Ian McShane are in talks to appear in the Hercules remake.
The duo are considering roles in Brett Ratner's film, alongside fellow Brit star Joseph Fiennes and Swedish actress Rebecca Ferguson, reported The Wrap.
Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is already set to star as the titular hero, and John is tipped to play the weary ruler of Thrace, with Rebecca as his healer daughter, said The Hollywood Reporter.
Ian is rumoured to take the part of Amphiarus, a priest, prophet and warrior who advises Hercules, while Shakespeare In Love star Joseph is to be cast as the pampered king who assigns Hercules his labours.
Rufus Sewell and Headhunters' Askel Hennie are also set to appear in the film.
Production on Hercules is scheduled to begin in November, with a planned release date for summer 2014.
Dwayne - who next stars in GI Joe: Retaliation - has already revealed that he has started preparing for his role as the Greek hero.
"I have been on a 10-week diet and conditioning prep for Hercules, with dialect coaches and all that. I am very excited about that," he said.
