Hobbit sequel gets German premiere
Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug is set to have its European premiere in Germany.
The red carpet for the follow-up to The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will be rolled out in Berlin on December 9, and not London as many fans had expected.
The New Zealand-based filmmaker and some of his cast members including Orlando Bloom, Luke Evans, Andy Serkis and Evangeline Lilly, recently took part in a fan event, simultaneously shown in Los Angeles, New York, London and Wellington, to give fans a taster for the eagerly-anticipated film.
Meanwhile, Orlando admitted that a chat with Peter persuaded him to reprise his role as archer elf Legolas in the upcoming instalment of JRR Tolkien's books.
He revealed how his initial doubts had disappeared after a chat with the director.
"Their ideas, which I have explained, were made to clear to me about how it could be made seamless and effective," he told Collider.
" There's a big love for these books and these films and these stories."
The actor added: "I think in the hands of Peter, the fans, I would hope, would feel rest assured that he will deliver a movie that will both entertain and enjoy and will be in keeping with Tolkien's vision of the stories.
"They never stray at all from Tolkien's vision of what the world is, and for me it was exciting to think of returning to Middle Earth and to be a part of something. This is Pete in his element, doing what he does best. So it was just very exciting."
The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug will be released on December 13.
