The film is being directed by Guy Ritchie and Armie is now signed up to take one of the lead parts, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The 26-year-old actor joins Tom in what is shaping up to be an impressive cast, after early problems signing up talent.

Guy was apparently ready to drop The Man From U.N.C.L.E. to direct a new project but when Tom joined the film in March it was back on track.

Armie, who appeared in Mirror Mirror, is building up a list of top co-stars - this summer he will appear alongside Johnny Depp in anticipated western The Lone Ranger.

He got his break in Hollywood when he played both of the Winklevoss twins in The Social Network, the film about how Facebook was founded.

The Man From U.N.C.L.E. was created in the 1960s during the Cold War and followed the spy adventures of American agent Napoleon Solo and Soviet agent Illya Kuryakin.

Robert Vaughn played Napoleon Solo and David McCallum was Illya Kuryakin in the original TV series.

Tom will play the American agent and Armie will be the Soviet in Guy Ritchie's remake.

Armie is also signed up to thrillers By Virtue Fall and 2:22.
