Gugu Mbatha-Raw has revealed Tom Hanks found time to joke around on the set of his new film Larry Crowne, despite writing, directing and starring in the project.
The Undercovers actress stars alongside Tom and Julia Roberts in the film, about a middle aged man who loses his job and decides to turn his life around by going back to college.
Gugu admitted she was a little star-struck at first: "Obviously - it's Tom Hanks, you know!
She added: "But he was directing the film as well so he was very hands on and he was wonderful to work with and very generous and creative. He'd written the project as well so it was quite impressive the amount of work he was doing.
"And he was so much fun and playful as well. He's great to work with."
The rising British star - who has appeared in Doctor Who and Bonekickers - was delighted to be working on the film, which is released later this year.
She said: "It was a terrific experience. Really, really exciting.
"Tom Hanks' character goes back to college when he falls on hard times and my character, Talia, kind of swoops him up and gives him a make over and encourages him to start afresh. So it's a really lovely film."
